I like Airforceproud95. He’s one of the top flight sim YouTubers iirc.

It’s really all about his delivery. He could make dog food reviews and have them be hilarious. His “responding to mean and weird comments” videos are SOLID GOLD.

I agree totally. He’s young but has really nailed his delivery and presence.

Loved the VTOL Airbus. Flying is fun when you don’t have to worry about physics.

The VTOL Airbus was someone doing very strange things with “slew mode”. I. e. using manual override controls to position a plane, intended for repeat practice of maneuvers or the like. Generally, the physics fidelity in Flight Sim X is pretty good - apart from having limited registry of airplane/ground interface.

That being said, some spectacular glitchouts can occur, and some other very weird things can happen when someone has a “substitution” - when the slot for a given plane in the game is replaced with another on *their* computer, it still shows to everyone as whatever it is in the base game. Or, sometimes it’s the other way around - normal aircraft appearing as something weird to someone who has a weird replacement. Interestingly, because nobody is concerned about “cheating”, all physics/etc. processing is done client-side and the result updated to the server. (This is also what makes planes sometimes stop midair, leap ahead, or disappear - communication errors.)

Anyway, the replacement thing leads to weirdness like from the index points on the airframe being different (things like taxiing embedded in the runway at constant excess AOA) and other shenanigans like a (seeming) hot air balloon traveling at 400kts.

Oh that was fantastic. Just mind boggling chaos. How did they set it up to have hurricane force winds like that?

I don’t know how you go about setting winds, no idea. It may have the option of reading current weather, which, since he did it during a real hurricane, would have taken care of things for him. From the surprise of some of the guys, I think they joined the server, went to where all the people were, and suddenly realized. Kind of “oh balls”.

you can create your own weather. You can put winds up to 200 knots.

Im trying FSX now to see how crazy I can fly :P

That just sounds like ridicilous fun. I’m definitely going to add this to my list of must have games.
